Two Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers have been injured in a dramatic automotive chase behind gold smugglers in Kerala after which three accused have been arrested. One of the officers was critically injured and has suffered a fracture. Both officers have been admitted to a hospital.
The accident occurred outdoors the Karipur airport in Kozhikode once they have been attempting to catch a gold smuggling gang that was attempting to flee in a automotive.
The DRI officers, Najeeb and Albert, have been chasing the smugglers on a bike when the accused hit their two-wheeler with their automotive. The automotive later rammed a tree after shedding management.
Three smugglers have been arrested and 4kg of gold has been recovered from them, the Finance Ministry mentioned in a press release at this time.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has enquired in regards to the well being of the injured officers and has requested for all medical services to be offered to them, the ministry added within the assertion.
