Ahead of the District Development Council (DDC) elections, 168 polling workers together with election materials had been airlifted on Sunday to the snow-bound Warwan block in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, officers stated. DDC elections together with bypolls to panchayats and concrete native our bodies are scheduled to happen in eight phases in the Union Territory, starting November 28.
Thirty-nine polling events had been inducted to the Marwah block of Kishtwar district on Saturday, the officers stated. DDC elections and panchayat bypolls can be held in the 2 blocks in the primary part on November 28, they stated.
The induction of polling workers was completed by the administration below the supervision of District Panchayat Election Officer Ashok Kumar Sharma, the officers stated. “Given the tough geographical terrain, the health of polling staff will be a matter of concern for us and keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic and tough weather ahead, all arrangements have been made and precautions taken for the poll parties,” Sharma stated.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Kishtwar, Amir Hussain, who was supervising the entire train for induction of ballot events, stated the polling workers was airlifted to transit camps in Marwah and Warwan from the place they are going to be despatched to their respective polling cubicles. He stated all boarding and lodging preparations for the ballot events are in place in these transit camps.
