According to a directive issued on Sunday by Amit Vishwakarma, incharge police commissioner of Ahmedabad metropolis, an order has been handed beneath part 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) to control the sale, buy and bursting of firecrackers.
As per the directive, metropolis residents are allowed to burst crackers from eight pm to 10 pm on November 14. A ban has been put on the sale, buy or bursting of “series crackers” also called “Lari”, because it spreads extra air and noise air pollution.
Only firecrackers licensed by the Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organisation (PESO) that emit as much as 145 decibel sound have been allowed for sale and buy. Bursting of firecrackers shouldn’t be allowed inside 100 metres of hospitals, nursing houses, well being centres, courts or spiritual locations which can be silent zones. It shouldn’t be allowed in market locations, lanes, public routes, petrol pump or LPG fuel stations and such godowns that retailer extremely inflammable substances.
