US President Trump on Sunday defended his determination to drag out of the Paris local weather accord, calling it “unfair and one-sided” whilst President-elect Joe Biden has pledged to rejoin the landmark settlement.

“I withdrew the United States from the unfair and one-sided Paris Climate accord, a very unfair act for the United States,” Trump mentioned on the sidelines of a digital G20 summit hosted by Saudi Arabia.

Trump has aggressively championed the fossil fuel industry, questioned the science of climate change and weakened other environmental protections.
Trump, who has refused to concede the bitter US election, had given a one-year discover to go away the Paris accord on November 4, 2019.
Biden has vowed that the US would rejoin the Paris local weather accord on his first day within the White House in January, a transfer welcomed by European leaders.
