At least 10 folks have been arrested in southern Sweden and several other cops have been injured in violence which broke out after an anti-Muslim Danish politician was blocked from attending a Quran-burning rally, police stated Saturday.
Protesters threw stones at police and burned tyres on the streets of Malmo late Friday, with violence escalating because the night wore on, in response to police and native media.
The demonstration of about 300 folks was linked to an incident earlier within the day by which protesters burned a duplicate of the Islamic holy e book, police spokesman Rickard Lundqvist instructed Swedish tabloid Expressen.
Between 10 and 20 protesters have been arrested late Friday and “have all been released,” police spokesman Patric Fors instructed AFP.
