Senior BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis in the present day welcomed the Supreme Court’s resolution to uphold the switch of Patna Police’s FIR in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise case to the CBI, and stated the Maharashtra authorities must introspect on the way in which it dealt with the case.
Sushant Rajput, 34, was discovered lifeless in his residence in suburban Bandra on June 14 following which the Mumbai Police recorded statements of 56 individuals, together with Rajput’s sisters, actress Rhea Chakraborty and another movie personalities.
The Supreme Court in the present day upheld the switch of an FIR, lodged at Patna towards Rhea Chakraborty and others for allegedly “abetting Sushant Rajput’s suicide”, to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The prime courtroom stated the Bihar authorities is competent to switch the case to the CBI for investigation.
Reacting to the decision, Devendra Fadnavis, who’s chief of opposition within the Maharashtra Assembly, stated they now count on justice within the case.
“A decision that boosts faith in the judiciary system! Maharashtra Government now needs to introspect on the way they handled this case. Now, we expect justice in #SushantSinghRajput case and for his fans,” the previous Maharashtra Chief Minister tweeted.
However, Shiv Sena chief Sanjay Raut advised reporters that Maharashtra has at all times been on the forefront of combating for fact and justice.
“Doubting the integrity of Mumbai Police was a conspiracy,” Mr Raut stated, alleging that politicians maligned the Mumbai Police. He, nevertheless, didn’t take any title.
The Shiv Sena chief stated the Mumbai Police had probed the case “in all fairness”.
“Nobody is above law. With the Supreme Court giving its judgement, it is not right to make a political comment,” the Rajya Sabha member stated.
Asked if the decision was a setback to the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra authorities, Mr Raut stated, “Such things do happen in legal battles.”
On whether or not the state authorities will problem the decision, Mr Raut stated it’s going to reply after getting the copy of the judgement.
On allegations towards Shiv sena chief and state minister Aaditya Thackeray within the case, Sanjay Raut stated, “There are no allegations.”
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh stated he’ll remark solely after learning the highest courtroom’s order.
“The Supreme Courts verdict has come. We will study the order after receiving copy of the order. Only then I will comment on the issue,” he advised reporters.
Senior BJP chief and former state minister Ashish Shelar alleged that the Mumbai Police gave the impression to be “pressurised by someone” within the Maha Vikash Aghadi authorities.
“It is imperative to find out who was behind it,” he stated.
