The Delhi High Court immediately severely criticised the Delhi authorities for its flip-flop on the cap on the variety of marriage ceremony attendees within the wake of a contemporary wave of the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the town.
“Why wait till now to reduce number of attendees at weddings? “Why did you watch for 18 days to limit variety of attendees at weddings, what number of died of COVID-19 throughout this era?” the High Court asked the Aam Admi Party (AAP) government today.
Delhi on Tuesday scaled down the number of people allowed at weddings from 200 to 50 amid a surge in coronavirus cases. This decision overturned an earlier one, declared by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), to ease a 50-persons-only cap on wedding functions.
“You had been shaken out of slumber, you turned turtle after we requested questions,” the High Court instructed the federal government about contemporary measures taken to sort out COVID-19.
