Italy’s competitors authority stated Monday it had fined Apple 10 million euros ($12 million) for deceptive claims concerning the water-proof properties of varied iPhone fashions.
It stated the US tech big “did not make it clear that this feature exists under certain specific conditions”, notably in laboratory assessments with static and pure water, “and not under normal conditions of use”.
It cited promotional claims referring to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11professional and iPhone 11 professional Max fashions.
The authority additionally rapped Apple for a disclaimer that the guarantee for the smartphones didn’t cowl harm attributable to liquids, saying it “was deemed to mislead consumers”.
