Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has ordered a probe into Taloja jail authorities allegedly denying Elgar Parishad-Maoist hyperlinks case accused Gautam Navlakha spectacles after they refused to settle for a parcel despatched by the latter’s household. Deshmukh made the announcement on Twitter.
“Bhima-Koregaon case accused Gautam Navlakha denied spectacles by jail authorities as they refused to accept parcel sent by his family,” Deshmukh stated within the tweet. “I have ordered an inquiry in this matter. I believe this situation should have been handled humanly & such incidents need to be avoided in future,” he added.
Navlakha’s members of the family had on Monday claimed that his spectacles had been stolen on November 27 contained in the Taloja jail, the place he’s lodged. They claimed that Navlakha is “almost blind” with out the spectacles and but, after they despatched a pair of new spectacles to him by put up earlier this month, the jail authorities refused to settle for it and despatched it again.
