The Delhi Metro shall be ready to renew operations every time directed by the federal government, the DMRC stated on Sunday.
The assertion from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) got here on a day Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated metro practice companies in Delhi needs to be resumed on a trial foundation because the COVID-19 scenario was bettering within the metropolis, and hoped the Centre would quickly take a call on it.
“The DMRC shall be prepared to commence operations whenever directed by the government. All necessary guidelines in place to combat the spread of COVID-19 shall be implemented, and all efforts shall be made to make travel safe for our valued commuters,” DMRC Executive Director Anuj Dayal was quoted as saying in an announcement.
According to sources, the Delhi Metro has suffered lack of almost Rs 1,300 crore for the reason that closure of companies since late March resulting from COVID-19 scenario.
The Delhi Metro has been closed since March 22 when the Janata Curfew was imposed within the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, and subsequently the nation-wide lockdown.
While the economic system has slowly opened up in phase-wise method within the unlock interval since June, the DMRC has not obtained a nod from the Centre to renew operations.
