Most of non-agriculture universities in Maharashtra have requested the state authorities to request the UGC to permit holding of ultimate year examinations and asserting outcomes by October 31, state minister Uday Samant stated on Monday.
There are 13 non-agriculture universities in the state.
Of them, Amravati University and Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) have advised holding of examinations and declaring of outcomes by November 10, stated Samant, who heads Higher and Technical Education division.
All universities have additionally agreed that it was not doable for college kids to step out of their houses to present examination given the COVID-19 menace, Samant stated.
He stated the mode of examination will be declared on Wednesday.
The examinations may be held in the primary week of October and can be of lesser marks, the minister stated.
A complete of seven,62,962 college students will seem for the ultimate year exams throughout universities,he stated.
“Amravati University and Yashwantrao Chavan Open University have said that a request be made to the UGC (University Grants Commission) for holding the examinations and announcing results by November 10.
“The remaining varsities, including that of Mumbai, Pune and others, have demanded the state government to propose to the UGC to hold the exams and announce results by October 31,” Samant instructed reporters right here.
The universities have requested the state authorities to carry the assembly of state catastrophe administration authority (SDMA) below Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to ship a request to the UGC in this regard, the minister stated, including that the SDMA assembly is anticipated on Wednesday.
On the mode of conducting exams, the minister stated, “Vice chancellors have suggested three ways of holding the examinations with online or open book or assignment options.
They have sought a day’s time on how these examinations will be held”.
Upholding the UGC tips, the Supreme Court had final week held that no state and college can promote college students in the ultimate year/terminal semester with out holding examinations, observing efficiency in such exams is a “reflection of competence” of the scholars.
