Two of the three huge ticket farm payments of the federal government had been handed in Rajya Sabha by voice vote on Sunday amid unprecedented uproar and protests. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday mentioned the passing of the farm payments in parliament was a “watershed moment in the history of Indian agriculture” as he hailed the legal guidelines cleared by the Rajya Sabha amid main chaos and drama. “A watershed moment in the history of Indian agriculture! Congratulations to our hardworking farmers on the passage of key bills in Parliament, which will ensure a complete transformation of the agriculture sector as well as empower crores of farmers,” he tweeted.
