Ganpati or Ganeshmahotsav is a festival filled with joy and happiness, it weaves everyone closer together to celebrate the auspicious birth of Lord Ganesha. One of the best parts of getting Ganpati home is all the preparation and decoration, from choosing the right decor to making his favorite sweet.
A small but significant part of all the preparation also involves choosing a placement for him, but you don’t have to scratch your head around finding the perfect placement, you can just rent a sturdy table for a while at a minimal cost and decorate around it. Here are some decor ideas that you can try this year:
Fresh Flower Decor
There is nothing more beautiful than natural decoration, use natural flowers to decorate for Ganpati. You can use bright, contrasting and vivid colors to light up the look of the room, along with filling it with the sweet floral aroma.
You can flower combinations like marigold and yellow roses, or hibiscus with red roses or marigold with jasmine. You can place the flower around the Ganesha idol to accentuate the bright colors and the festive spirit. Add flower rangoli and a pot filled with a contrasting color flower to really blend into the theme.
Keep It Light
You can choose to keep it light and bright with diyas, tea lights and fairy lights. Decorate the table with tea lights, and you can have the backdrop designed with fairy lights and a white curtain to accentuate the white, light and bright look.
Furthermore, you can decorate the surface with artificial pearls that can be easily purchased from any nearby stationary shop. During aartis, you can switch off the main lights and turn on the decorative lights for a surreal experience of your Ganpati Bappa symbolically radiating the light of wisdom, and prosperity.
Colorful and Playful
Keep the festivities colorful and playful by using colorful and contrasting craft papers to make paper fans, paper boats and other origami shapes and place them on the surface or/and the backdrop. You can also use colorful chunris or dupattas and style them in a creative way.
If you have kids at home they can also help you with origami and scouting for playful and colorful items. Give an additional touch with classic paper lanterns and ribbons.
Exotic Peacock
You can follow a peacock theme by decorating the backdrop with peacock feathers in the form of a half circle. To add some extra flare you can place natural elements here and there like interesting crystals, stones, banana leaves and/or houseplants. Add some beads colored in green and blue to accentuate the overall theme and the elegance of it all.
This Ganpati Chaturthi, let’s try to reduce waste and celebrate in an eco-friendly manner by choosing the right decor. Using decor made by oneself can be both fun and help bond the friends and/or family closer.
