A 12-year-old boy was arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a 51-year-old woman in suburban Houston.

Sharon Hawkins was discovered Saturday with a number of gunshot wounds in a bed room at an residence complicated in the Greater Greenspoint space of Harris County, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The boy, whose identify has not been launched as a result of he’s a minor, was charged with homicide and aggravated assault with a lethal weapon via the Harris County Juvenile Probation Office. Police spokesman Kese Smith stated authorities arrested the boy Sunday.

Police initially believed he was a witness. They say he lied when he informed investigators that he noticed a suspect leaving the residence dressed in all-black clothes.

Smith stated he couldn’t say whether or not the boy knew the woman.
