As many as 1,095 look out circulars have been deleted and 630 international members of the Tablighi Jamaat have left India, the Ministry of External Affairs stated on Thursday.
On the difficulty of international Tablighi Jamaat members caught in India for violating visa guidelines and pandemic restrictions, MEA Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava stated the ministry has been actively facilitating their consular entry, deletion of LOCs and clean repatriation to their respective nations.
“We have kept the respective foreign embassies informed through the entire process,” he stated.
“As of August 24, 1,095 look out circulars (LOCs) were deleted and 630 foreign members of the Tablighi Jamaat have left India,” he stated at an internet media briefing.
These members of the Tablighi Jamaat have been charged below the Foreigners Act for indulging in actions that have been incompatible with their visa standing, he stated.
Therefore, for such actions, applicable class of visa needs to be sought, Mr Srivastava stated.
To a separate query on whether or not External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will take part within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) international ministers” assembly subsequent month, Srivastava stated the minister has acquired an invite for the assembly to be held in Moscow and a choice on his participation can be made recognized as soon as it’s taken.
