Mr Lone had been at a detention centre for six months beginning August final yr, after which he spent one other six months underneath home arrest beginning February 5.

“Good to hear that Sajad Lone has been released from illegal house arrest. I hope others under similar illegal detention will also be released without delay,” National Conference chief Omar Abdullah tweeted.

Mr Lone together with different senior leaders of the opposition was detained on August 5 final yr, the day Home Minister Amit Shah in parliament introduced the massive transfer on Jammu and Kashmir.
