The central authorities has authorised Rs110 crore to set up a technology innovation hub at IIT, Ropar, the premier engineering institute mentioned on Saturday.
The innovation centre is aimed to convey options for stubble administration, water high quality enchancment, mapping of hazardous substances in water and soil, and their remedy, it mentioned.
“The prime objective of this trailblazing hub is to make agriculture a profitable industry with highly optimised resource intake,” the Indian Institute of Technology mentioned.
According to IIT-Ropar Director Sarit Okay Das, this novel mission by the federal government of India will assist the agriculture and water sector within the nation by exposing it to innovative analysis.
“Unfortunately, along with the success of the green revolution in India, the quality of soil and water and overall agricultural environment suffered degradation due to the excessive use of fertilisers, water and pesticides in order to grow more per hectare,” hub coordinator Pushpendra P Singh mentioned. The institute will develop applied sciences and agricultural practices which may enhance the yield and minimise the hazardous substances. To obtain the objective, the crew will join with farmers, take heed to their issues and are available up with viable, technology-based financial options, he mentioned.
