Chinese synthetic intelligence firm Shanghai Zhizhen Intelligent Network Technology Co, Ltd, also referred to as Xiao-i, has filed a lawsuit towards Apple Inc, alleging it has infringed on its patents.
The firm is asking for 10 billion yuan ($1.43 billion)in damages and calls for that Apple stop “manufacturing, using, promising to sell, selling, and importing” merchandise that infringe on the patent, it mentioned in a social media publish.
Xiao-i argued that Apple’s voice-recognition expertise Siri infringes on a patent that it utilized for in 2004 and was granted in 2009.
Apple didn’t reply to a request for remark. Reuters was not instantly obtainable to discover a copy of the courtroom submitting.
The lawsuit marks the continuation of a row that has been ongoing for practically a decade.
Shanghai Zhizhen first sued Apple for patent infringement in 2012 concerning its voice recognition expertise. In July, China’s Supreme People’s courtroom dominated that the patent was legitimate.
