The defence ministry has began work on bringing out a second record of navy platforms and weapons by December which shall be banned from import beneath a staggered timeline to encourage their home manufacturing, officers stated on Wednesday.
The ministry has already began preliminary discussions with main stakeholders just like the defence public sector undertakings, non-public industries, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the three companies on the second detrimental arms import record, they stated.
On August 9, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had introduced that India will cease the import of 101 weapons and navy platforms like transport plane, mild fight helicopters, standard submarines, cruise missiles and sonar methods by 2024.

“We are working on bringing out the second negative arms import list by end of December,” stated a senior official.
