The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has sanctioned Rs 115 cr to the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT) below the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NMICPS) to set up a expertise and innovation hub (TIH) on pc imaginative and prescient and augmented and digital actuality (CV and AR-VR), stated a launch.
The TIH at IIT Jodhpur, named as iHub Drishti, is being integrated as a section-Eight firm with the preliminary seed funding from the DST. The 5 verticals that iHub Drishti will give attention to are reliable pc imaginative and prescient for autonomous methods, bio and medical imaging for healthcare and ecological sustainability, and clever multimedia platform for digital studying, pc imaginative and prescient, and AR-VR for Industry 4.0 and synthetic intelligence-driven augmented and digital actuality purposes.
Prof Santanu Chaudhury, director, IIT Jodhpur, who chairs the hub governing board stated: “The iHub Drishti will engage in application directed research and translation of research outcomes to products and processes in collaboration with academic and industrial partners from India and abroad.”
He stated the centre will assist and nurture start-up ecosystems, function upskilling and reskilling applications and intend to allow and drive acceptable expertise interventions within the related areas by the state and central ministries. “It will host teams of faculty members, research scholars, developers, and scientists who will work towards achieving the targets of the hub,” the director stated.
iHub Drishti undertaking director Prof Mayank Vatsa stated the hub will create an ecosystem in and across the thematic areas and constructing collaborations with different TIHs to foster the general development and improvement of CPS applied sciences.
“iHub Drishti will create state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities that will cater to the national need. In five years’ time frame, iHub Drishti will become the anchoring agency for technological innovations in the areas of Computer Vision, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality,” he added.
