Twitter labeled 3,00,000 tweets associated to the US presidential election as “potentially misleading” within the two weeks surrounding the vote, making up 0.2 p.c of election-related posts, the corporate stated Thursday.
The social community stated the labels have been issued between October 27 and November 11, one week earlier than and after the US presidential election on November 3 — which Democrat Joe Biden gained over incumbent Donald Trump.
Of the 300,000 flagged tweets, 456 have been coated over by a warning message and had engagement options restricted — customers couldn’t like, retweet or reply to the posts, stated Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s head of authorized, coverage and belief and security, in a weblog publish.
She estimated that 74 p.c of people that noticed the problematic tweets did so after they’d been labeled as deceptive or flagged with a warning message, and sharing of the posts, because of this, declined by about 29 p.c.
