Former Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu was sworn in on Saturday because the Comptroller and Auditor General, the Rashtrapati Bhavan stated.
Mr Murmu made and subscribed to the oath of workplace earlier than President Ram Nath Kovind, it stated in an announcement.
At a ceremony held within the Ashoka Hall, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mr Murmu was sworn in because the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India, it stated.
Mr Murmu, a 1985-batch IAS officer (retired) of Gujarat cadre, may have a tenure as much as November 20, 2024, the Rashtrapati Bhavan stated.
As a constitutional functionary, the CAG is primarily entrusted with the duty of auditing the accounts of the central and state governments.
CAG experiences are laid earlier than the Parliament and legislatures of the states.
