The Goa authorities has withdrawn the permission granted to the organisers of Sunburn digital dance music (EDM) festival to maintain the occasion within the State in December this 12 months.
The transfer comes within the wake of criticism being confronted by the BJP authorities within the State after it gave its nod to organise the festival amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Congress occasion had protested within the metropolis on Friday in opposition to the choice to enable Sunburn to be organised within the State.
On Friday night, State Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar stated that the division has determined to withdraw the permission granted to the organisers of Sunburn 2020.
“The decision has been taken in view of the pandemic situation in Goa. We don’t want huge crowds to gather as it can lead to the spread of the virus,” he added.
The festival was scheduled to be held from December 27 to 29 at Vagator village in North Goa.
Percept Live, the corporate which organises this occasion, had stated that they got in-principle approval by the Tourism Department’s State-Level Program Committee (SLPC) to host the festival.
The organisers had stated on Friday that they have been prepared to cancel the festival if pandemic state of affairs worsens within the state. They had additionally stated that the occasion can be held by obeying all of the social distancing norms.
