Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama was conferred with the “best MLA award” for 2020, whereas Congress legislator Mohansinh Rathva acquired the honour for 2019 within the state Assembly on Thursday.
Gujarat Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi introduced the awards on the fourth day of the state Assembly’s Monsoon session in Gandhinagar.
The state Assembly began these awards for the primary time this yr because the formation of Gujarat in 1960, the Speaker stated.
Both legislators acquired a silver trophy weighing 1.5 kg from Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and different senior leaders within the House.
While 76-year-old Rathva, a 10-time Congress MLA, represents Pavi-Jetpur seat of Chhotaudepur, 70-year-old Chudasama represents Dholka seat of Ahmedabad.
Earlier in February, a choice was taken to institute the award, and in June, the foundations and parameters have been finalised, following which a range committee was constituted beneath the chairmanship of the Speaker.
“Before finalising our rules, we studied rules, regulations and parameters adopted by the Parliament and legislative Assemblies of other states,” Mr Trivedi stated, whereas saying the awards within the House.
Some of the parameters included information about parliamentary procedures, conduct within the House and in public life, attendance and cooperation in sustaining decorum of the House, he stated.
The chief minister congratulated each the senior legislators and stated he was assured that this new custom will encourage different members to stroll within the footsteps of the award-winning MLAs.
