The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration on Sunday finalised its seat-sharing formulation for the second part of the District Development Council polls, allocating eight seats every out of whole 27 to the National Conference and the PDP. The seat-sharing record was launched by the alliance spokesperson and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) chairman Sajad Gani Lone.
The record was accredited by PAGD chairman and NC president Farooq Abdullah at a gathering of the alliance companions at his residence on Sunday morning. The final date for submitting the nominations for the second part of the polls is Monday, whereas the polling would happen on December 1.
According to the PAGD’s seat-sharing pact, Lone’s J&KPC will contest from 5 seats. The Congress will subject its candidates on three seats, whereas Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement will battle for two seats.
Awami National Conference (ANC), led by Abdullah’s estranged sister Begum Khalida Shah, has been allotted one seat to contest. A distinction, nonetheless, continued to persist between CPI(M) and PDP over ‘Pombay’ seat in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, which was represented within the erstwhile J&K’s state meeting throughout its previous couple of phrases by CPI(M) chief M Y Tarigami. While the alliance has allotted the seat to the PDP, the CPI(M) is adamant to subject its candidate from there.
You can test the ratio of votes once I received towards the PDP candidate in 2014 meeting polls or once I supported the NC candidate in 2019 Lok Sabha polls. There needs to be some justification (for the PDP getting the seat). We will contest this seat. This has already been determined, Tarigami advised PTI. The CPI-M’s choice to subject its candidate is not going to have a bearing on the alliance, he insisted.
We are for the alliance and can stay on the aspect of the folks. We are half of the alliance to defend the rights of the folks of J&Ok, he mentioned. Elections or no elections, on our half, we’re for the alliance and we have now been arguing extra vigorously for it, Tarigami mentioned, including in the event that they deny us even a small seat, I feel it isn’t simply.
