After the Minister of Education has introduced that IITs and NITs will educate engineering programs in regional languages from the following educational session, the IIT-Kharagpur director Virendra Ok Tewari stated that it’s about time that greater schooling institutes equip themselves with amenities and processes to adapt to this new strategy.
Considering college students taking admissions at IITs and NITs come from various backgrounds and having completely different mother tongues, Tewari recommended that institutes ought to have a regional language hub at their campuses which facilitates bilingual teaching and multilingual academic sources for college students. Regional language hubs arrange at technical institutes can deliver collectively college students requiring language aids and assist in language-assisted studying, he recommended.
He additionally recommended that institutes can use technological aids for this objective, “AI-based hearing aids which can effectively translate engineering and scientific teaching communication in regional modes in real-time” was one of many solutions.

While the ministry is but to announce the checklist of shortlisted IITs and NITs to ship programs in regional language from 2021 onwards, Tewari has already recommended methods to implement the “new approach” in teaching. In an official assertion, he stated, “let language not be the barrier to learning”.
