The listing consists of all 59 Chinese apps the federal government banned in India not too long ago and some extra Chinese and non-Chinese purposes.
Commenting on the matter Truecaller spokesperson famous in an e-mail assertion, “It is disappointing and saddening to be taught that Truecaller is among the many listing of 89 apps being banned by the Indian Armed Forces for his or her personnel. Truecaller is an app of Swedish origin that considers India it’s dwelling. We even have immense respect for the Armed Forces and we stand in solidarity with them and the Indian authorities. We would really like to reiterate that Truecaller stays secure to use, each for our residents and for our esteemed armed forces personnel. We see no cause for Truecaller to be on this listing and will examine the matter additional. Truecaller gives an important service for over 170 million folks in India, figuring out and blocking a whole bunch of tens of millions of spam calls and SMS each single day. Our inclusion on this listing is unfair and unjust for the next causes:
Truecaller shops all consumer knowledge in India, nicely forward of rules
All app options are permission-based & disabled by default
A majority of Truecaller staff globally are Indian
Truecaller doesn’t add phonebooks or promote consumer knowledge – https://www.truecaller.com/privacy
For girls going through harassment, fraudsters who attempt to steal your cash & for these going through a barrage of incessant spam – Truecaller is commonly the primary and solely efficient line of defence – https://www.truecaller.com/impact.”
This transfer comes amidst the stress on the border between India and China. The army clearly doesn’t need leakage of any data. Another report from IndiaTV News said that the army has set July 15 because the deadline for troopers and officers to delete the listed apps from their smartphone.
Notably, apps other than 59 banned Chinese apps are usually not banned in India. Army has simply requested officers to delete them from their cellphones.
