A person has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida after physique elements of banned wildlife species and smuggled Himalayan herb had been seized from his possession, police stated on Thursday.
The motion was taken by the Forest Department officers and the accused held from his store in Bhangel on Wednesday on prices of promoting prohibited species, the police stated.
This is the second such case inside per week by which a shopkeeper, possessing banned wildlife species with an intention of promoting them, has been arrested in Noida, officers stated.
“The accused has been identified as Sunil Jain, a resident of Barola village, and booked under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972,” an official from Phase 2 police station stated.
The forest officers recovered eight jackal bones, two owl nails, 10 monitor lizard genitalia, that are utilized in occult practices, three conch shells, 10 gm fireflies and three kg of “kuth”, a Himalayan herb used for medicinal functions, the official stated.
Earlier on September 4, a 45-year-old man was arrested from his store in Sector 93 marketplace for allegedly promoting prohibited wildlife species, together with birds and a reptile, the officers stated.
