Nine maoists have been arrested by safety forces in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Dantewada district, a police official stated on Sunday.

Acting on particular inputs, a joint crew of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and district police arrested the cadres from a forest between Mailwada and Mokhpal villages on Saturday night, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava instructed PTI.

On seeing the patrolling crew, the rebels tried to flee from the spot, situated round 400 km from the state capital Raipur, however they had been caught after a brief chase, the official stated.

Those arrested had been recognized as Nanda Kawasi (28), Badi Vanjam (22), Nanda Padiami (40), Pajja Vanjam (23), Sanna Mandavi (23), Guddi Muchaki (21), Hunga Hemla (24), Naga Hemla (25) and Pala Ram (24), all decrease rung cadres, he stated.
