Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday provided US help to Lebanon after Beirut was rocked by large blasts.
“We are monitoring and stand ready to assist the people of Lebanon as they recover from this horrible tragedy,” Pompeo wrote on Twitter.
Pompeo in an accompanying assertion stated that the United States will watch for the findings of Lebanese authorities on the reason for the explosions, which killed at the very least 50 individuals and flattened the Mediterranean metropolis’s harborside.

“Our team in Beirut has reported to me the extensive damage to a city and a people that I hold dear, an additional challenge in a time of already deep crisis,” stated Pompeo, who has spoken prior to now of his private curiosity in Lebanon.

“There are reports of toxic gases released in the explosion so all in the area should stay indoors and wear masks if available,” it stated in a safety alert.
