Locals alleged that pictures had been fired by police throughout the protest. Several protesters and police personnel had been injured in the incident.
TMC chief Kanishka Panda stated, “I don’t know of any protests with our political flag. If there exists any, they aren’t our people. This was the strongest cyclone in 250 years. I agree that maybe some people were overlooked during our enquiry. However, our chief minister has said that those who haven’t received money can still submit their application. No matter what party you support, if you submit an application to BDO, you’ll receive help. Have a little patience and give us some time. It is the time to help and stand by people and not do politics.”
The BJP responded to this by alleging the system’s failure.
BJP chief Anup Chakraborty stated, “The relief fund provided by the central government for the ones affected by Amphan have been taken by the madmen of the ruling government. Even after several requests to the government, there weren’t any surveys. The families of the supporters of the ruling party are getting the relief money. The mad and insensitive government needs to be permanently removed from Bengal. Hence, the people in Patashpur are protesting. We are supporting them.”
