Chandigarh:
A farmers’ physique on Thursday determined to accentuate their protest in opposition to the Centre’s three farm-related Bills, by asserting to cease trains in Punjab from September 24 to 26.
“We have decided to hold a “rail roko” agitation from September 24 to 26 in the state against the farm bills,” stated Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee common secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher.
Different farmer organisations in Punjab have already given a name for a “bandh” on September 25 in protest in opposition to the Bills.
Farmers have expressed apprehensions that the legislations will pave method for dismantling of the minimal assist worth (MSP) system and that farmers will likely be on the “mercy” of massive corporates.
The Centre on Monday had launched the Bills in Lok Sabha.
These are the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill; and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill.
Lok Sabha on Tuesday had handed the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020, which seeks to decontrol meals gadgets, together with cereals, pulses and onion, a transfer geared toward “transforming” the farm sector and “raising” farmers’ revenue.
The Congress-led authorities in Punjab has described the legislations as a “blatant attack” on the federal construction.
Last month, the Punjab meeting had handed a decision, rejecting the ordinances launched by parliament earlier and changed by the three Bills.
