A seven-day lockdown was imposed in all containment zones of West Bengal from Thursday night, official sources mentioned.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had on Wednesday mentioned the lockdown might be in place for per week from 5 pm on July 9, after which the state of affairs might be reviewed.
She had directed the police to firmly take care of these violating the norms put in place in the wake of the relentless rise in Covid-19 circumstances.
The state’s containment zones and the buffer zones round them have been clubbed collectively to represent a ”broad-based” containment zone, the place the whole lockdown was imposed from Thursday.
