Seven police officers have been injured in violence at an unlicensed musical event in the British capital as they sought to interrupt up a crowd that posed a danger to public well being throughout the coronavirus pandemic, police mentioned on Saturday.
Those at Friday’s event turned violent and threw projectiles at police as they entered an property at Havelock Close in West London, the police mentioned in a press release.
“Officers encountered bricks and other missiles being thrown at them,” police mentioned, including that the gathering was ultimately dispersed with no arrests.
“We are aware of injuries to seven officers as a result of the hostility.”
Such gatherings have been unlawful and introduced a danger to public well being amid the virus outbreak, they added.
A dispersal zone has been authorised in the realm, for which police have obtained cease and search powers.
