Former Maharashtra Ranji participant Shekhar Gawli died after falling in a 250-feet-deep gorge in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, police stated on Wednesday. Gawli, 45, who performed two top notch matches for Maharashtra, went for trekking within the Western Ghat mountains of Igatpuri hill station in Nashik together with a few of his mates on Tuesday night. He fell into the gorge after allegedly shedding his stability, the police stated.
“His body was found at around 10 am on Wednesday. The body will be handed over to the family members after postmortem,” an official from Igatpuri police station instructed PTI.
Gawli was earlier the assistant coach of the Maharashtra cricket crew and was at present the health coach of the U23 crew. He was a proper hand batsman and a leg-spinner.
