The Supreme Court at present reserved its verdict on a plea filed by businessman Vijay Mallya, who has sought evaluate of its 2017 order holding him responsible of contempt of courtroom for transferring USD 40 million to his youngsters.
A bench comprising justices UU Lalit and Ashok Bhushan reserved its order after listening to arguments within the case.
The Supreme Court had in June directed its registry to elucidate as to why Vijay Mallya’s evaluate petition had not been listed earlier than the courtroom involved for the final three years.
It had directed the registry to furnish all particulars together with names of officers who had handled the file regarding the evaluate petition within the final three years.
The fugitive businessman had filed the petition searching for evaluate of the Supreme Court’s May 9, 2017 order by which he was held responsible of contempt of courtroom for transferring USD 40 million to his youngsters in violation of the order.

The Supreme Court’s 2017 order had come on a plea by consortium of banks led by the State Bank of India (SBI), which had mentioned that Vijay Mallya had allegedly transferred USD 40 million acquired from British agency Diageo, to his youngsters in “flagrant violation” of assorted judicial orders.
It was coping with pleas of lending banks searching for contempt motion and a course to Vijay Mallya to deposit USD 40 million acquired from offshore agency Diageo respectively with the banks.
The banks had then mentioned that Vijay Mallya hid the info and diverted the cash to his son Siddharth Mallya and daughters Leanna Mallya and Tanya Mallya in “flagrant violation” of the orders handed by the Karnataka High Court.
