Two tribal sisters have been allegedly gang-raped in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district, following which certainly one of them died by suicide whereas the opposite woman is combating for all times at a hospital, police mentioned on Tuesday.
The two sisters, aged 16 and 14, went out with some native youths on September 4, their household mentioned.
“We thought they went out as usual. However, they were missing for two days and came back on September 6,” their brother mentioned.
As they have been feeling unwell, the household took them to a neighborhood hospital, which referred them to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
“At the hospital, my sisters told us that they were gang-raped by five men and how they managed to escape and reach home. Then we got to know that they consumed poison after coming back home and due to which they fell sick,” the brother mentioned.
While the elder sister died on Monday night time, the youthful one’s situation is vital, officers mentioned.
Police mentioned they’ve arrested three individuals in reference to the incident and a hunt is on for the opposite two.
As the physique reached the village this morning, locals began protesting, pointing fingers on the police. Last month, one other 16-year-old woman was gang-raped in the identical space, and her physique was later discovered within the septic tank of a home, in accordance with officers.
