The United Nations on Tuesday blocked a controversial bid by the US to reimpose worldwide sanctions on Iran, with the Security Council saying it couldn’t proceed with the disputed transfer.
The presidency of the Council, assumed in August by Indonesia, is “not in a position to take further action” on Washington’s request, stated Indonesian Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djani.
In a video convention on the Middle East, he cited the shortage of consensus within the UN’s highest physique on the US technique as the principle motive.
