Washington:
US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Tuesday unveiled a brand new $916 billion pandemic support proposal, aiming to interrupt a months-long impasse in Congress over extra support to the coronavirus-ravaged US financial system.
The proposal, barely bigger than a $908 billion measure unveiled by a bipartisan group of senators final week, would come with “money for state and local governments and robust liability protections for businesses, schools and universities,” Mnuchin stated in a press release, all of which have been key sticking factors within the negotiations.
Mnuchin stated he offered the proposal to Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a gathering Tuesday night, and likewise reviewed it with outgoing President Donald Trump.
