23-Year-Old Man Arrested In Delhi For Posing As Army Major: Police

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Delhi for impersonating a Major within the Indian Army, and a faux id card was seized from him, police stated on Saturday.

The deception was uncovered when a case was registered in opposition to Suraj Tiwari on Thursday for voluntarily inflicting damage and wrongful restraint and was arrested.

Since it was a bailable offence, he was requested to deposit a surety to get bail. But the accused confirmed an ID card to assert that he was a Major within the Indian Army and that the police can not arrest him, a senior police officer stated.

“The ID card was of inferior paper quality which raised suspicion. Police interrogated him and he confessed that it was fake. Thereafter, a case was registered against him at Prem Nagar police station,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) PK Mishra stated.

It was revealed whereas at school, he had joined the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and visited IMA Dehradun as soon as which fascinated him and he developed a robust liking for the uniform, the DCP stated.

However, he didn’t have the tutorial qualification to be an officer within the Indian Army. So, he solid the ID and pretended to be a Major, Mr Mishra stated.

Investigation is underway to determine whether or not any Defence Ministry personnel was concerned in making the counterfeit id card, police stated.
