Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Sunday mentioned his authorities would take the BJP and its allies, together with the Akalis, to courtroom over the brand new “unconstitutional, undemocratic and anti-farmer” legal guidelines of the central authorities.
He mentioned he would battle until his final breath to guard the farmers’ pursuits within the state.
“We will move the court and fight the draconian legislations as soon as they get the presidential nod and become the law of the land,” he mentioned.
Mr Singh expressed shock on the approach the BJP-led Union authorities “brute-forced” the agriculture Bills by way of the Rajya Sabha.
The CM questioned the rationale behind placing the “controversial and vicious” Bills, which, he mentioned, was a “blatant encroachment” of the state”s powers and management of the agriculture sector, to voice vote, regardless of sturdy reservations by the Opposition and insufficient numbers within the House.
Why did the House not go for division of votes on this crucial problem, which has even divided the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), he requested.
He mentioned his authorities won’t permit the central authorities, of which the SAD “shamelessly” continues to be an element, to “trample” the rights and pursuits of farmers by way of these “cruel” legislations designed to “destroy” the farming group, and Punjab state for which agriculture is its lifeline.
“We stand with the farmers and will do whatever it takes to protect their interests,” he mentioned in a press release right here.
“They (BJP and its allies) clearly don’t care for what these laws will do to the farmers,” he mentioned, flaying the BJP-led authorities for “selling” farmers” pursuits to huge corporates.
Amid an uproar by the opposition, Rajya Sabha on Sunday handed the Farmers” Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020.
They have been handed by Lok Sabha on Thursday. A 3rd invoice is but to be handed in Rajya Sabha.
