Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday had lunch on the home of a tribal BJP employee in Chaturdihi village in Bankura district.
It was a vegetarian platter of Bengali delicacies, served on a plate with a banana leaf on it.
Sitting on the ground of Bibhishan Hansda’s home, Mr Shah had rice, roti, dal, “patol bhaja” (pointed gourd fry), “shukto” (combined veg stew which is barely bitter), “alu-posto” (potato cooked in poppy seed paste), and “papad“.
Although sweets equivalent to “rosogolla“, “sandesh” and “mishti doi” had been there within the menu, the BJP chief declined to have these desserts.
