Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday directed the state residence division to take instant disciplinary motion and switch ten police males for partying on a cruise ship in violation of lockdown and curfew, the Chief Minister’s Office mentioned.
An area vernacular newspaper had revealed a report on July six with pictures of a bunch of officers partying on a cruise ship on river Brahmaputra in Guwahati towards lockdown and curfew norms.
“As per direction of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the state home department has initiated disciplinary action for transfer of the police officers who took part in a night party in a cruise over River Brahmaputra violating the lockdown and curfew norms in the city”, in accordance with a press release issued by the CMO.
The division has initiated steps for switch of 1 Deputy Commisioners of Police (DCP), 4 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), two Officers in Charge of Police stations, two Sub-Inspectors and one Assistant Sub-Inspector of town police, who took half within the social gathering, the assertion added.
Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna in a letter to Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, had directed him to inquire into the matter, submit a report and provoke disciplinary proceedings with intimation to the chief secretary.
“It is also directed that policemen under your command may be told to scrupulously follow orders issued by the government and not display actions which are detrimental to the rule of the law”, the chief secretary mentioned.
