Bihar BJP MLC Sunil Kumar Singh died of the coronavirus at AIIMS Patna on Tuesday, an official stated.
Mr Singh was 66. He is survived by two sons, a daughter and spouse.
He is the primary lawmaker within the state to die of COVID-19.
“Sunil Kumar Singh today died of coronavirus disease. He was suffering from diabetes and hypertension and was on ventilator,” AIIMS COVID-19 Nodal Officer Sanjeev Kumar advised PTI.
Mr Singh, who was BJP MLC from native self space constituency from Darbhanga, was present process therapy on the hospital since July 13 after he examined constructive for COVID-19, the nodal officer stated.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi, Bihar Legislative Council Acting Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh and a number of different leaders expressed grief over the loss of life of the MLC.
In his condolence message, Mr Kumar stated the MLC was highly regarded amongst individuals and had curiosity in social work, an official launch stated, including that his loss of life has precipitated an irreparable loss to politics and society.
The chief minister additionally talked to his son Sujeet Kumar over telephone and consoled him.
Six lawmakers within the state, together with the legislative council performing chairman, have examined constructive for COVID-19.
