Vinay Tiwari, Superintendent of Police (SP), who reached Mumbai on August 2 with advance intimation to Mumbai Police, was nearly “detained” within the title of “quarantine”, Bihar Police informed the Supreme Court on Thursday.
Bihar Police gave a reply within the high court docket at this time in reference to the petition filed by actor Rhea Chakraborty in search of a route to switch the FIR within the Sushant Singh Rajput case from Patna to Mumbai.

The Bihar Police said that it’s obligatory for the police officer to register the FIR and proceed with the investigation. “It is only after completion of the investigation, the police officer shall forward the report to the concerned Court of competent jurisdiction,” learn the reply.
“The Station House Officer (SHO) is obliged to register the FIR and carry out the investigation expeditiously. At the stage of the investigation, it cannot be said that the SHO does not have territorial jurisdiction to investigate the case,” the Bihar Government said within the affidavit, a replica of which was accessed by ANI.
“Any contention that the Investigating Officer (IO) did not have jurisdiction to do so on the face of it deserves to be rejected. Section 156(2) contains an embargo that no proceeding of a police officer shall be challenged on the ground that he has no territorial power to investigate,” the Bihar police claimed.
Earlier, the Maharashtra Police informed the highest court docket in its affidavit that the Bihar Police didn’t have jurisdiction to analyze into the FIR or study witnesses associated to Rajput’s case.
Actor Rhea Chakraborty additionally filed her written submissions earlier than the highest court docket within the case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case in opposition to Rhea Chakraborty, Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi, and others in reference to the actor’s loss of life.
