Three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been injured in an assault by Bangladeshi smugglers alongside the India-Bangladesh worldwide border in West Bengal, officers stated on Saturday.
The incident befell close to the Bansghata put up of the BSF within the North 24 Parganas district of the state in the course of the intervening evening of July 3-4, they stated.
Troops of the 107th battalion of the pressure had laid an ambush within the border space and when a gaggle of 10-12 Bangladeshi smugglers had been noticed round 3:30 am, the BSF males challenged them.
“The smugglers encircled the BSF party and brutally attacked them with bamboo sticks and sharp-edged cleaver-like weapons called ”Dah”,” a senior BSF officer stated.
Three BSF males had been injured on this assault, he stated.
The troops fired 5 rounds from their non-lethal pump motion gun in self-defence and subsequently, the smugglers ran throughout the border in direction of Bangladesh, the officer stated.
A packet containing eight kilograms of or marijuana was seized from the incident website, he added.
It is known that one or two of the attackers had been injured within the firing by the BSF troops, the officer stated.
