The Uttarakhand forest division has filed a case in opposition to Swami Chidananda Saraswati for allegedly grabbing a chunk of reserve forest land in Virpur Khurd space in Rishikesh and working a yoga and meditation centre, and a residential college on it.
The case was lodged in opposition to the non secular guru below part 26 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 in compliance with a latest order of the Uttarakhand High Court, Forest Range Officer Mahendra Singh Rawat informed information company PTI.
“Swami Chidananda had grabbed around one hectare of reserved forest land in Virpur Khurd area of the town and was running Muni Chidananda yoga centre, meditation centre and a residential school on it,” Mr Rawat stated.
However, the forest division took again the land from the non secular guru on February 10 this yr, he added.
