A police sub-inspector was allegedly caught whereas accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a person for taking motion over a grievance of encroachment in Ajni space of Nagpur on Wednesday, police stated.
A crew from the Anti-Corruption Bureau caught Rajeshsingh Keshavsingh Thakur (56), who’s connected to the Ajni police station, for accepting a bribe from the complainant at Shatabdi Chowk, an official stated.
The complainant had approached Mr Thakur to take motion in opposition to a scrap vendor who had encroached on a plot he had bought in September final 12 months.
During the investigation, the accused policeman had demanded Rs three lakh bribe from the complainant to take away the encroachment and after discussions, Mr Thakur settled for Rs 1 lakh.
An offence beneath related provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered in opposition to Mr Thakur at Ajni police station.
