The Union Health Ministry has requested all states and Union Territories (UTs) at hand over our bodies of suspected COVID-19 sufferers to their family with out ready for laboratory studies confirming the an infection. A letter on the matter was despatched to all states and UTs on Wednesday after points have been raised relating to the dying of suspected COVID-19 sufferers and our bodies not being handed over to family pending affirmation of check report by hospitals.

“I would like to clarify that the bodies of such suspected COVID cases should be handed over to their relatives immediately and laboratory confirmation of COVID-19 should not be awaited,” the letter written by Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Health Ministry, Dr Rajiv Garg mentioned.

These our bodies can, as a matter of plentiful precaution, be disposed as per the “Guidelines on Dead Body Management” accessible on the web site of Union Health Ministry which directs that handlers in PPE accompany the physique for ultimate rites, the letter said.
