New Delhi: Amid an ongoing protest towards three farm legal guidelines, a delegation of 29 farmers from Haryana met Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Saturday to lengthen their help to the brand new legislations and threatened to stage a protest if these are repealed. The delegation, led by Bharatiya Kisan Union’s (Mann) Haryana state chief Guni Prakash, submitted a “letter of support” to Tomar on the farm legal guidelines handed by Parliament in September and demanded the federal government to proceed with these legislations.
“We will also protest if the government repeals the laws. We have given a memorandum to all districts,” Prakash advised reporters after the assembly. He additionally sought to know why the earlier authorities didn’t implement the suggestions of the Swaminathan Commission until 2014.
“Everyone has a right to protest. They have, so do we. We are in support of the three laws, but this protest is being led by Leftists and those who are violent,” he mentioned. Claiming that the continued farmers’ agitation is not a peasant motion, the BKU chief mentioned, “It has taken a political colour. Farmers will get real freedom through these three laws.” This was the second group of farmers from Haryana that met Tomar and prolonged help to the farm legal guidelines. The first group had met the minister on December 7.
No breakthrough has been achieved through the six rounds of talks between the Centre and the agitating farmers thus far, because the farmers have caught to their demand for a repeal of the legal guidelines, regardless of the federal government sending them a draft proposal to amend particular points with out abolishing the legislations.
The three legal guidelines have been offered by the federal government as main reforms in the agriculture sector that may take away the middlemen and permit farmers to promote their produce anyplace in the nation. However, the protesting farmers have expressed apprehension that the brand new legal guidelines would pave the best way for eliminating the protection cushion of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and scrap the mandis (wholesale markets), leaving them on the mercy of huge corporates.
The Centre has maintained that the MSP and the mandi system would proceed and would fairly be improved and strengthened additional.
